Think local, folk global!
Starling Sessions is a global community folk orchestra, exploring traditional music from around the world through the people of Oxford. Each member of the band brings a song with them to share and together we create a musical mosaic of Oxford.
Like the common starling, which makes its home anywhere and has a knack for learning the songs of other birds around it, we learn to sing the songs that have made their home in Oxford.

“These sessions have made me feel like anyone can get to be a musician and express themselves through music, and that has been an incredible and life altering experience.”
“It’s amazing to have the opportunity to not only share traditional music from our own cultures, but to learn tunes from across the world from each other. ...we’re all supporting each other and cheering each other on.”
Support us
We believe money should not be a barrier to making music, and bringing money into the music-making spoils the fun. We want to keep Starling Sessions completely free at the point of access.
If you love what we do, you can support our work! Set up a regular donation to help keep us going, or give a one-off donation towards the project.
